And sure it’s a few hours late, but when you’re awaiting this kind of awe-inspiring glory, well, time itself pretty much stops having relevance. Unless it comes in aeon form. At which point we’re willing to consider time once more. But only aeons. Aeons and epochs.

And so, here we are, in the aeon/epoch promised, presenting to you a podcast! Which, admittedly, at this point is just a low bitrate MP3 hosted on Dropbox, but we are looking into podcasting technologies. It’s just that Paul and I are so dreadfully lazy. I mean, if it weren’t for the lack of readily available food and sex at various points we may well have mimicked that woman who fused herself to a toilet seat through inactivity. Mmmm. Gritty.

But yes, ‘podcasts’. These will be happening every fortnight unless circumstance or food/sex/fusing get in our way, and each will have a musical theme which we grapple with while grappling with each other. In a non-sexual, mostly verbal way. The first theme, aptly, was ‘firsts’. The first tracks, the first albums, the first time Paul had a wet dream over Paul Anka (the song was ‘Time After Time’ by Cyndi Lauper, but it didn’t get on to this list). There may not be many epic surprises, and the mood is somewhat somnolent, but we think it has its charm. Also, we have a discussion about Mazzy Star’s place in the fundamental laws of the universe, and Paul calls me the worst sex offender he knows (bringing up the question of how many sex offenders he does, in fact, hang out with). Here be a tracklisting:

1. Interpol – Untitled [first track off 'Turn Off The Bright Lights']
2. Bjork – Hidden Place [first track off 'Vespertine']
3. Mazzy Star – Fade Into You [first track off 'So Tonight That I Might See']
4. The Go! Team – Panther Dash [first track off 'Thunder Lightning Strike']
5. Massive Attack – Angel [first track off 'Mezzanine']
6. Booka Shade – Night Falls [first track off 'Movements']
7. DJ Shadow – Changeling [first track Paul listened to while in first year university... it's off 'Endtroducing']
8. The Cinematic Orchestra – All That You Give [first track off 'Every Day']
9. French Kicks – Abandon [first track off 'Swimming']

Like the sounds of that? Then wrap your listening gear around this bad boy: The Somewhat Ambitious Podcast 1.

Listen, love and tell all your friends… or rather, all your friends with a less than serious attitude towards the various minorities we occasionally seem to insult. We don’t mean it! We love all of God’s creatures. Except for the elks. And this guy. Shudder.
