For fans of Futurama (and I’m assuming that applies to each and every one of you), some good news.Very good news, in fact. I’m giggling like a retard monkey right now.
Taking a page from the “Family Guy” resurrection guidebook, the canceled Fox animated comedy is returning with an order from Comedy Central for 26 new episodes to run over two seasons. “Futurama” creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen already are working on stories for the new batch of episodes of the sci-fi cartoon, slated to premiere on Comedy Central in mid-2010.
So not only did we recieve several straight-to-dvd films (which, believe it or not, I’ve somehow not seen yet on account of crippling apprehension about their quality), we’re getting two new seasons. This gives me hope for other shows cancelled by Fox before their time was really up, such as Firefly. But holy shit, another two full seasons of Futurama? There’s so much to look forward to! I hope. They’d better not screw it up. Like that Mussolini guy did.
Oh, and incidentally, don’t ever try and google image search for Futurama. Over half of what comes up will be badly drawn Futurama porn. I’m not saying look at it, I’m just saying people who are mildly adept at Microsoft Paintbrush seem to be reaaaaally big Leela fans.

I can’t believe you didn’t start the article with “Good news, everybody!” but yes this is good news!
Oh and don’t go out of your way to see straight-to-dvd films…

The movies are passable. Although, David Cross does voice a monster on Beast with a Billion Backs. Eh? Eh?

I’ll check them out, but how many are there and what order do I watch them in? Do they keep up the whole Fry getting smarter and slightly more heroic, Leela liking Fry more, etc, dynamic? Actually don’t tell me, I’ll find out for myself.

YAY! best news!
watch the films – just approach them with the understanding that they are action epics, more heavy with melodrama…and the occasional giggle.
i’m sure the new eps will return to the old formula and level of constant hilarity.
