New Monkey Island game bitches. Shit, if I was writing the press release, I think that’s all I’d say. But, seriously, whoa. This is Monkey Island we’re talking about. This game was the cornerstone of my comedic and video game appreciation from the time that I was five. And although the franchise stumbled a little with the absolute dross that was Escape from Monkey Island, this news is still enough to bring the five year old fanboy in me raging back to life. It’s called Tales of Monkey Island and apparently it’s being released in five monthly installments, starting in July. They’ve got the same voice actors (Dominic Armato, I could kiss you) and certain members of the original creative team on board, so with any luck we can forget all that fourth game juju and look forward to a game of Secret of/Return to/Curse of Monkey Island stature.
And not just that – they’re also releasing a Special Edition version of the first game with rejigged graphics, the same voice actors (Dominic Armato, I could kiss you) and the ability to switch between new and old games with the flick of a button. I think I may be starting to hyperventilate. Quick Dominic, I’m about to faint, come catch me.
Go check out the trailer and try and tell me you’re not just a teensy bit excited. You can pre-order the game here. If you do, you get a Collector’s Edition DVD. Collector’s Edition. Why that must mean there’ll only be a few of them on the ENTIRE PLANET. They could be worth a fortune. Collector’s Edition is like a seal of super valuable rarity. So go! Get to it!

The best thing is that Lucasarts aren’t releasing it so it won’t get canceled after I build myself up for pure awesome, see Full Throttle 2.
