Nerds of a Feather wrap-up, April 21st!

April 21st, 2009 · 3 Comments

Welcome to Tuesday! If you didn’t catch Nerds of a Feather this morning, fear not, the podcast link shall be here later in the day. In the meantime, though, here’s more info on what you missed:

- I gushed about Star Trek XI! Yes, there have been ten other films. If you want to geek out over the intricacies, feel free to contact us, but watch the spoilers! Christ, I sound like a turn of the century headmaster.

- Tweenbots! New York art student Kacie Kinzer conducted an adorable experiment using naught but a smiling robot, a small flag and some dreams.

- Couldn’t be fucked picking up your G&T? Fear not, Bompas & Parr have invented the inhalable cocktail, and have opened a temporary bar where you can inhale to your hearts content! Incidentally, we also discussed bacon lube. No, this is not a joke.

- I discussed flavour tripping. Which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Though to be fair, I’m now imagining myself riding a giant tongue like a magic carpet.

- Helmut Smitts has recreated a dead pixel on Google Earth, and we had a chat about… stuff. At this point in the show I seem to recall having some sort of seizure.

- And finally, we bantered about Star Trek online! Don’t worry, Robbie, I’ll not be totally lost to another MMORPG.*

Remember to stay tuned for the podcast! Also, if you haven’t yet seen Lukes Got Cancer, do so. It’s been selling out, getting rave reviews and finishes this weekend. Also, I have it on good authority he will ravage you afterwards if you sit in the front row. And by good authority, I mean I sat in the front row and he ravaged me.

/Paul

*Lies. I will be totally lost to another MMORPG.

I have so far avoided being sucked into the MMORPG vortex, but I’ve tried every Star Trek computer game in history, no matter how awful (and with perhaps one or two exceptions they’ve all been awful), and I’m not going to quit now. I fully expect it to be awful, but if it sucks me in and never lets me out, well, I knew the risks.

Inhalable cocktail? That’s even less calories than vodka and water. *emails Anna Wintour*
