As we all know, Mugabe is a dick.
(There, I said it. Although to be fair, I originally wrote “duck” and then amended it, which would put a whole new spin on this unfolding tragedy.)
To protest the hyperinflation spurred on by this tyrannical feathery fuckhead, The Zimbabwean (which is a newspaper, not a searingly racist action film starring The Rock) has rolled out an ad campaign using trillions of Zimbabwean dollars. The campaign is summed up beautifully at their Flickr page:
“A unique campaign was devised to promote the paper to raise awareness and increase readership. One of the most eloquent symbols of Zimbabwe’s collapse is the Z$100 trillion dollar note, a symptom of their world record inflation. This note cannot buy anything, not even a loaf of bread and certainly not any advertising, but it can become the advertising, it can be a powerful reminder about Zimbabwe’s plight and the need to hold someone accountable.”
The design aspect of the project is absolutely gorgeous, and the Flickr page has some terrific photos of the campaign in various locations. It’s… amazing how unfunny the whole thing is, actually. Odd to blog about something and not finish with a tenuous abstraction or a reference to flaming pig abortions.
Which, ironically, I just did.
Make sure you head over to the gallery and check it out, though. It’s one of those truly fucked problems that, whilst not immediately fixable, should be brought to everyones attention. Also, word on the grapevine is that Mugabe is slated to be a raid boss in the next Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Enormous Douchebag Donkeyfucker. I hear he drops tragically worthless loot.

“I hear he drops tragically worthless loot”
But he drops a hell of a lot of it. A trillion is a stupidly large number, and I didnt appreciate it properly until BoingBoing linked to this the other day:
