Historical Tweets

February 24th, 2009 · 2 Comments

I’m willing to admit that I’ve become a little addicted to Twitter of late. I’m averaging well over ten tweets a day and get far more satisfaction than I should from having a person that I’ve never met before make some reference to one of my 140-character bursts of profundity. Sweet retweeting recognition, how I crave your ephemeral kiss… Or something like that.

But I guess one of the true signs of an application’s grip on web consciousness is its capacity to induce the creation of an entire field of sub-applications/parodies/celebrities. And by this measure Twitter seems to be roughly on par with Jesus’ grip on Roman Judaean consciousness circa 33AD. Which is an apt comparison really as I introduce today’s Twitter derivation of choice, Historical Tweets. Fairly simple, but neat concept: take a historical event of note and then translate it into tweet format. Fairly hit and miss, as these things tend to be, but there are a number in there that really butter my muffin. And then cover it with hot, melting honey. Ooooooh yeah. Sensual.

If you haven’t already, add my (@lukeayresryan) and Paul’s (@paulverhoeven) asses. We need the validation.
