Male bonding occurs amongst monkeys! Specifically, the males!
I know, i know, it’s a relief. Here I am, petrified I’ll piss off an errant gypsy and be turned into a chimp, only to realise I’m patently incapable of forming one-half of a Turner and Hooch type simian crimefighting duo. You know, where we’re initially at odds because he’s by the book and I insist on flinging shit at suspects, but we eventually both learn to laugh every time the other money mutters “I’m getting to old for this”. Observe:
“Everyone needs a best friend, even chimpanzees. A decade-long study shows that nearly all adult male chimps form enduring social bonds with other males, exchanging back scratches, sharing meat, and generally chumming around.
On average these bonds lasted seven years, says John Mitani, a primatologist at the University of Michigan, who observed chimpanzees in Uganda several months a year for 10 years.”
Which begs the question: what kind of a person spends ten years watching monkeys be friends? “Day 353. Monkeys are now friends. I do not have any friends. Maybe it’s because I can’t stop watching these monkeys. Oh, look, another monkey erection”.
It appears I’ve failed to understand what motivates primatologists. I hope it isn’t erections.

if it’s got monkeys or robots in it, it’s sure to be entertaining i mean….who doesn’t want to see a primate getting and maintaining an erection while chumming it up with another hairy chimp? i mean, not even reality television gets that good, come on! let’s be realistic. besides, if humans supposedly descended from these harsuit swingers, doesn’t it make sense that they’d want a bestie just like we long for a bestie to comb our hair and tell us when there’s spinach or cum in our teeth? it’s not rocket surgery–its ’science’ people. it is science.
