1001 Rules for my Unborn Son is the kind of whimsical, jittery and sprawling blog that not only sets you off down various pop-culture lined avenues, but genuinely gives you a kick in the inspiration gland (or “pineal gland”, if my medical training serves me correctly). Here are a few highlights:
291. Don’t stare. People-watch.
289. Address [...]

Obama and Warcraft!
November 21st, 2008 · 2 Comments
Wowinsider has just reported that soon-to-be-president Obama’s FCC transition co-chairman (whatever the fuck that is) plays World of Warcraft. Not only that, but he’s apparently a resto shammy, has played in two different endgame guilds, and has the “Jenkins” title. Is it too much to hope that Obama logs on? I’d bet good money he’d [...]

Lego: quite literally the building blocks of life.
November 20th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Apparently I have Lego on the brain! A French company is selling a line of household Lego items, such as the sofa pictured above, made from huge lego bricks. Logic dictates that this trend will gradually metamorphose cities into lego-scapes. The obvious benefit to this phenomenon would be easy reassembly after natural disasters (hurricanes, Godzilla, [...]

Use the lego, Luke…

HOLY CRAP.
Flickr user roguebantha_1138 has posted a series of pictures of their epic Star Wars lego diorama. It’s 75 by 125cm, took about a year to make, and depicts a rebel attack on an Imperial base and mining installation. I need to change my pants.

Kevin Smith!
November 19th, 2008 · 3 Comments
Morning readers! Apologies for the sporadic posting over the past few days, but WRATH OF THE LICH KING has been pummelling me about the face and neck, and I’ve been busy attempting to spank it into submission (with no success). How are we all? Good?
In a tasty piece of news, I shall be interviewing Kevin [...]

The Simpsons! No, really!
November 17th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Dean over at Springfield Punx (which is a gorgeous blog project) has made a wallpaper of his characters. The premise behind his project is turning pop-culture figures he admires into Simpsons characters. Scan through the wallpaper and see how many you can recognize. Marty McFly! Stephen Colbert! Some… asian guy! I LOVE asian guy!

Second Life is Nutty
November 16th, 2008 · 7 Comments
Yesterday’s copy of The Age turned up this particular gem of sordid nerddom. Hidden under the relatively innocuous title ‘Web of deceit leads to divorce’ there lies a charming tale of double crosses, illicit romance and private investigators. All of which just happened to occur in Second Life. I’ve said it before and I’ll say [...]
Barbie jewellery: irony can only take you so far.
November 12th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Hate Barbie? Me too! You know what would stick it to Barbie? Jamming her face into some jewellery. Margaux Lange has rigged up a series of surpisingly good looking sterling silver rings. The best thing about these? They’re oddly uplifting. And not just for those of us who enjoy carrying around body parts. I swear, [...]

Obama!
November 12th, 2008 · 3 Comments
Given the post-Obama rush we’re all being swished around in, it might be a little hard to quantify exactly why we love him oh so much. The UK Telegraph has compiled an amazing list of things you might’nt be aware of about Zeus. Yes, I called him Zeus. Let’s not fuck around with aliases anymore. [...]

Live, Covers and B-Sides
November 11th, 2008 · 5 Comments
So Paul and I have a returned from another erratic, exhausting and free-wheeling Somewhat Ambitious radio show for the charmingly ramshackle SYN Radio. This week’s theme, as the title might suggest, was live performances, covers and b-sides/rarities. The mix was typically bizarre (Marissa Nadler flowing in to Daft Punk was a juxtaposition probably best not [...]
