On today’s episode of Nerds of a Feather (Podcast available here), I discussed:
- The Nobel Prize awards, which started yesterday. My money is on Clooney.
- The first successful spacewalk by China! Can ping pong be played in space? Perhaps. Is it racist to assume Chinese astronauts must enjoy ping pong? Perhaps.
- It’s snowing on mars! All you need now is a fir-tree and a spacesuit, and you can have yourself one seriously barren christmas.
- The X Sting Wish, a household firefighting tool which looks like it’s used by The Master Chief.
- The advent of technology which could make Holodecks a reality. Remember in First Contact when Picard shot those borg with a Tommy Gun? That could now totally happen.
- The cross-channel flight of Hublotman (not his real name), using a jetpack. There’s a distinct possibility this guy is now getting laid by a LOT of women. Also, he apparently wants to jump the Grand Canyon. Would it be wrong to string up some piano wire?
- My upcoming onstage Q&A with Philippe Petit, the man who tightrope-walked between the two towers in ‘74, and subject of the new award winning documentary, Man on Wire. Bookings can be made at www.cinemanova.com.au.
