As many of you know, we here at The Somewhat Ambitious rarely wrestle with the greased pig of politics, but it’s been a big week, so we felt obliged to lather up. You’d think with the Democratic convention wrapping up after near-messianic crowds, things couldn’t get any better for the Obama camp. Right?
WRONG!
Sarah Palin is McCain’s new VP. If you’ve been out of the loop, here’s a quick run-down. She’s vehemently anti-abortion, anti gay marriage, and a staunch supporter of gun ownership. Even better, she’s heading up a move by Alaska to reverse the listing of the polar bear as a threatened species.
In summary: Wheeeeeee!

Oh, you meant “what the fuck are you on about”? Well, basically I think Sarah Palin is a mean-spirited ass-backwards bitch, and deploying her next to McCain is a little like rubbing peanut butter on a goat; tasty in principal, but upsetting and counter-productive.

does that mean we’ll soon find tasty polar bear casserole in lunch rooms across canada? one can only hope so. other tidbits:
1. her (and her husband’s – who is known to his friends as ‘first dude’) favourite food is caribou hot dogs
2. she hasn’t been doing much hunting recently because she’s been so busy with work
3. she may have fired a senior employee because he refused to fire her estranged brother-in-law after the brother-in-law pulled a gun on her father. apparently the findings of the inquiry are due to come out on october 31st i.e. 5 days before the election. awesome.

Let’s add the fact that her daughter is apparently 5 months pregnant and dayum…I do believe the Republicans are getting interesting. Or at least as interesting as a bad soap opera!
