I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a gadget quite this badly. The Draganfly UAV, which looks like a cutter from Half Life 2, is actually a heli-cam. This is apparently the X6 model, and the carbon body allows it to zip around for 30 minutes, in the face of up to 18 miles an hour of wind. It can be loaded with an HD camera, night vision camera, still camera, low light camera or thermal imaging camera. It even has an inbuilt GPS tracker whcih feeds data directly to the LCD remote control. It has a backup motor in case one of its six motors craps out, 30 minute battery charging time, climbs at 23 feet per second, and can hit a top speed of around 30 miles per hour. In the latest issue of Jmag I reviewed several different types of RC choppers, but I never thought I’d see anything I’d be more willing to made sweet, painful love to. I frankly do not care how weird and awful that sounds, because no amount of social and familial alienation could outweigh the utter awesomeness of this thing.*
