Beedle the Bard: worst name ever.

A little while ago, J.K.Rowling announced she’d hand-written several editions of Beedle the Bard, the same book of fairy-tales Albus Dumbledore gave to Hermoine. Photos were released of the hand-written volume, esconsced in Moroccan leather, with pages hewn from the balls of Zeus himself (as far as I know). This bad-boy was fetching gargantuan prices at auction, so when I was recently informed amazon.com were allowing pre-orders for the layman version (pages hewn not from a gods balls, but rather from “trees”), I very nearly blew a lung.

The book itself is a series of Kipling-esque fables, and is accompanied by a book of commentary by Albus Dumbledore himself, which is the main reason I’ll be forking out a hundred clams* for it. Also, the entire package is stunning to look at, and given the limited nature of the release, it could be very desirable in years to come. This stands in stark contrast to the seven main books in the series, which whilst exceptionally gripping in terms of content, look a little like crayloa were commisioned to design the covers.

*The conversion rate for clams, and seafood in general, is excellent right now.
