The Breakfast Show, July 1st (Wrap-Up)

July 1st, 2008 · 1 Comment

On this morning’s episode of Nerds of a Feather (live from “sunny” Port Fairy), i covered the following:

- My antics at Supanova, including when Nichelle Nichols glanced longingly at my groin, and when I ran girlishly away from a potential meeting with Jewel Staite.

- How cigarette vending machines in Japan are being fooled by photographs, including (as Lindsay suggested) pictures of David Hasselhoff.

- The new Lego Gun, and how the book Lego for Adults is pissing off all and sundry. Well, mainly those adverse to being shot by it. Everyone else thinks it’s awesome. Apart from Lego, who apparently think using building blocks as weaponry is “wrong”.

- The release of Diablo 3, being announced in Paris on the 28th and causing involuntary urination in several of my friends. Would it be wrong to name those friends? Would it be wrong to out another prominent public figure who trusts me NOT to out him on air? Stay tuned and find out.

- Finally, GenConOz starts this Thursday! It runs from July 3rd – 8th at the Brisbane convention and exhibition centre, and is definitely worth a look. If you want to be kicked in the face by AWESOME (I believe he’s employed by the convention), head over to the website and check out some of the features. Most notable, for myself at least, are the inclusion of two things. The first is lots of Warhammer 40k, which I’ve always harbored a quiet (read: sporadically obsessive) love for.

The second is that Alan Tudyk, i.e. WASH FROM FIREFLY will be there. We’re being bombarded with cast members from that show! Odds are I won’t be able to make it, so can any listeners within range get over there and ask him one of the following two questions:

1) Sequel?

2) You + sequel?

I realise that I’m going to be condemned to grammar hell for those literary incursions, but let’s face it, I’m already condemned. I’m a gamer. I’ve used the phrase “pwned a$$hole, I fisted your face with PWNING!” at some point. Granted, I may have been at a Little Red concert and the line was totally out of context, but I maintain the only reason I was asked to leave was that the security guard in question wasn’t a gamer.
