Last night I watched Batman: Gotham Knight (an Animatrix-style series of Batman animé shorts. Or as I like to call them, batmanimé) and the Dark Knight back-to-back. That’s a good 4 solid hours spent watching a man in black plastic beat the hell out of people while having existential dilemmas. And, wonderful as it was, it did make me pine for the good ol’ days of Batman, the Batman we (kinda) grew up with, where the colours were bright, the lycra was new and Robin was as gay as Christmas. Ah, who needs emotional complexity when you have poorly disguised sexual subtext dressed up as manly camaraderie.
Yes. Quite.
Anyway, here be videos:
Batman, Robin and Batgirl get involved in a Public Service Announcement regarding the right of women to equal pay. The line ‘Holy act of Congress’ is one of the best things I have ever heard.
Here’s Batman and Robin swearing like the sailors they most definitely aren’t
And here’s a list of all the ‘biff!’ and ‘pow!’ sound effect splashes used in the old Batman series. My personal favourites?

If I was Zlott-ed, I think I’d be more curious than angry…

Catwoman — this version of Catwoman — is my one of my first-remembered crushes. Her and the drawing of Nancy Drew on the cover of the novels.

First-remembered crushes are hilarious. Mine was the princess from the Lion-Force Voltron cartoons.
I’m so glad I shared.

[...] Fun note: The Ebay listing starts thusly ‘Na na na na na na na na na na BATMAN. That is what your neighbors will say when you pull into the driveway. How many people do you know that have a Ferrari, a Mercedes, a Lamborghini, or a Corvette? My guess would be there is at least one of these in your neighborhood. Now how many Batmobiles are in your neighborhood? None, because there were only a total of 5 of these cars made.’ Ooooooooh. Take THAT Ferrari. That’s almost worthy of a cheesy 60s Batman style ‘qunckkk!’ [...]
